THE CAUSE OF PHOTO DAMAGE

Ultraviolet radiation causes DNA changes in the skin that can lead to premature aging and skin cancer. There are three kinds of UV light:

• UVA light. This form of solar radiation damages skin at all levels—from the surface layer (epidermis) down deep into the dermis. Within those layers, several parts of the skin are affected, including collagen and elastin fibers, which give the skin its youthful tautness and elasticity, as well as epidermal cells and tiny blood vessels called capillaries. 
• UVB light. This type of solar radiation irradiates the outer layer of the skin. UVB damages DNA (more potently than UVA) in the epidermis and can cause photoaging, as well as precancerous cells (actinic keratoses) to form.
• UVC light. This type of solar radiation is absorbed by the ozone layer and atmosphere. As a result, it is not much of a health risk.

• Please try to arrive on time this will help manage social distancing.
• Please wear a mask and keep 2m distance in the waiting room.
• Please keep touching any objects to a minimum.
• Please sanitize before using facilities or having a refreshment, hand sanitizer are available throughout the clinic. 
• Please use a contactless payment method if possible.
• If you do not have an appointment please use your contact tracing app to scan in. If you do not have your phone inform the staff so they can record your visit. 
• If you feel unwell, have been in contact with someone who is unwell or waiting on a test result, please reschedule your appointment.

BLOSSOM SAFETY PROTOCOLS AIM TO PROTECT YOU AND STAFF ABOVE AND BEYOND GOVERNMENT SET PPE & HYGIENE PRACTICES:​
​

• Contact tracing (for appointment holders). Contact tracing signs are conveniently placed around the clinic. Scanning in for appointments is not mandatory since they are logged in our system. However, using the contact tracing app is the quickest way to get important information about places of interest should an incident occur, so scanning in is always good practice.
• Contact tracing (general). Visitors without appointments are required to scan in using the contact tracing app. Please do not feel offended if staff asks if you have scanned in, it is for everyone’s safety.
• Sanitizing. There are hand sanitizers strategically placed around the clinic, sanitizing before the use of any facilities is paramount.
• Screening protocol. During the booking process or upon arrival clients will be asked a few quick screening questions. Again, please don’t feel offended as we are doing this to keep everyone safe.
• Mask mandate. Due to airborne & droplet transmission, masks are another very important part of PPE. Masks are required in the waiting area as it is an indoor public place. Our staff is also required to wear mask when in close interaction with patients.
• Social distancing. Under the new requirements we have spaced out the seating areas for all seats to be 2m apart.
• Hygiene. Washing hands is probably the best tool to prevent exposure, our staff follows strict washing procedures as laid out by the MOH.
• Cleaning standards. All direct contact areas in the treatment rooms are wiped clean with disinfectant medi-wipes after every patient, all other general contact areas are wiped down at least twice daily.

We care we created this internal protocol to keep you and staff safe. We are truly sorry if this should cause any inconveniences! 

LEVEL 2

The New Zealand Government and the Ministry of Health have created levels of action and guidelines in response to the Covid 19 virus.  These levels mandate changes to social and work interactions, to prevent and slow the rates of transmission.

Following the health and safety recommendations will ensure the health of both clients and staff. The recommendations are constantly changing, so we are keeping an eye on the MOH.
